
The downtown Maryville Farmers Market, revived in 2016 by the Host Lions Club after several years of languishing at a couple of different locations, was back in business Saturday morning in a city-owned parking lot near the corner of Fourth and Buchanan just west of the square.
The weekly produce and crafts offering is to continue each Saturday beginning at 7:30 a.m. through the end of September. If last year was any indication, buyers can expect most stalls to sell out by noon.

Mason said thanks to word-of-mouth, purchased advertising and considerable media coverage, awareness about the market is growing, and that about half the vendors participating Saturday were growers taking part in the market for the first time.
