The Linton Farmers Market is set to open for the season Saturday.

Opening day for the fifth annual Linton Farmers Market will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Humphreys City Park

The market will operate every Saturday through September.

Market Manager Mark Stacy said for the last several months, the market has been gearing up for another bountiful season of fresh, local fruits, vegetables and other homemade goods. Every year the Linton Farmers Market continues to grow in size and popularity and this year is expected to be the best season yet, Stacy said.

One significant change this year is the market will be moving a short distance to a new location. It will still be in the southeast corner of the park, but will no longer be on the gravel pad it was on last year. Although the gravel pad was a great improvement from the previous year’s location, the loose gravel did cause a problem for some market customers with mobility issues. So this year the Linton Park Board decided to move the market into the road and parking lot in the southeast corner of the park. This will allow all vendor booths and customer areas to be on pavement, which will significantly improve access for all market customers.
