Kump Education Center has benefitted significantly from volunteer help this spring. Melodee Price organized the WV Make It Shine initiative with volunteers picking up trash in the rain on April Fools’ Day. It was a cold and wet Saturday morning, but that hearty crew collected debris from every corner of the property and made two great piles of sticks and garbage bags for the City to remove.

Tree Board members Katy McClane and Linda Sylva have been working to improve conditions for the apple trees planted by the Sustainability Studies Program from Davis & Elkins College. They have been digging out the sod and clearing away vines near the apple tree roots throughout the month of April. Some of the sod was moved by D&E Lacrosse team members to hold the bank beside the parking lot. McClane also brought in leftover sod from the Event Center and started planting it up against the bank.
